Beulah Kidz formerly known as Foundation for the Empowerment of Troubled Teens was founded in 1997 by Carone Gordon. The program started with extensive counseling, food distribution and scholarship until approximately five years later the housing program was added.
This private housing program was geared to parent children ages 0 to 17 who were victims of abuse and was also a temporary holding place for children who had cases pending at court. Beulah kidz networked with the various agencies both government and private to form solutions to some of the problems facing the children we cared for.
Beulah kidz has been relocated from Duhaney Park, St. Andrew to Albion Estate in St. Thomas. We've had to relocate some of our kids for their safety, as well as change schools because of harassment by family members, who suffer embarrassment when such situations are reported.
The housing program has been the heart of Beulah Kids for many years. The new locations gives scope for expansion and comfort for the new occupants. The new location is currently under construction and will be ready for occupancy by summer of 2008. A family environment is encouraged at the Home, where most of our staff and volunteers are Christians. Our mission is to "let each child see Christ through us" our vision is to "bring positive change to all those children we serve".
